PLEBEIAN GRANDSTAND - LOWGAZERS

Think about Black Metal. That genre that expresses rage and desolation throught frenetic blast beat and glacial guitar riffs. Now think about Chaotic Hardcore, one of the most controversial and extreme genre in these last years. Did it? Okay then, now mix up these two genres and you'll get "Plebeian Grandstand" band. You think it's absurd? I know, but, this is exactly how the french band shows itself: a music that communicats schizophrenia, madness, chaos and destruction, surely the best words to describe this "Lowgazers". Though, there are no words that can fully describe the pure album's essence. The french band made something completely new, but surely the heavy sound is not for everyone. The atmosphere you can feel since the first track, "Thrvst", it's the same one you could feel staying in an asylum cell by late night: desperate screams, distorced and confused sounds, frenetic blast beat... in a few words, a bloody mess. In all the album, especially in the beginning, you can feel typical influences of black metal and chaotic hardcore: dissonant arpeggios and blast beat from the first one, voice and chaso from the second one. Next song, "Endless Carving", is, musically talking, fuckin' insane: no sign of melody, only chaos. Now I can't talk track by track. It would be impossible, because the album is too controversial and complex, though it follows a simple rule: raise all the bloody mess you can. Even the secondary tracks, such as "Relief of Troth", with their apparent calm and stillness make the listener even more anxious. This french band has done more than "All Pigs Must Die" did in the past, they have created something unique, new and original, something we'd call "Chaotic Black Metal", a genre that is difficult to describe and, sincerely, I don't even know how much did I like it, I only know that what they have created goes behind the music itself, this is pure fantasy and a genius' work. It is so complicated that I could go on for hours saying the same things, becoming monotonous, so I'll stop now saying: for those who think that these guys deserve a little attention, then my advice is to listen to their album. Just remember: it isn't an easy-listening album, you could take hours to appreciate it, but, trust me: it's totally worth it. [Translated by Lorenzo Naturale]
