Dead Congregation also appreciate Black Metal, as we can see from the numerous tremolos and blast beats, but we understand that the true base is Death Metal itself. And there's something more, because there are also melodic parts that are so unexpected like in the title track or "Nigredo", but, do not illude yourself: everything in this album is pure violence. In fact, in "Promulgation of the Fall" we have 40 minutes of pure and blind anger that lost itself in the darkess so we can't understand where it is directed, but we also feel the need to sit and listen to it. A very good work, lads. Together with the band named over, and like Edoardo (YDBCN's Chief Editor) said, they will be Death Metal's saviours
Di ventate belle gelide in questo 2014 ne abbiamo avute parecchie, partendo dal disco dei Lie In Ruins da me recensito a inizio anno. Così sempre su questa via di gelo finlandese o pseudotale da sud arriva Promulgation of the Fall, secondo full dei greci Dead Congregation a rincarare la già ingente dose di Death Metal malevolo. I greci già sei anni fa con il primo disco Graves of the Archangels si erano inseriti prepotentemente nella vena del Death Metal più oscuro e malevolo generato dal sound finlandese e oggi portato avanti da gruppi come i Portal, Mitochondrion, Sonne Adam, Desolate Shrine... In sei anni i Dead Congregation ritornano con questo nuovo Promulgation of the Fall che risulta essere anche più convincente del full d'esordio. La produzione esalta al massimo il sound claustrofobico al riffing chiuso e tagliente della band greca creando un marasma sonoro senza via d'uscita.
I Dead Congregation qua e là non si risparmiano neanche le bordate più tendenti al Black Metal, come appare chiaro già dai tremoli altissimi e i blast sguaiati dell'opener, tuttavia la base vera che si sente in ogni istante è quella del Death Metal suonato con tutti i crismi possibili. Ci si può anche stupire nei passaggi più melodici che giungono veramente inaspettati come nella title-track o in Nigredo, ma non bisogna mai illudersi: tutto affoga nella violenza. In Promulgation of the Fall abbiamo 40 minuti di cieca rabbia che si perde in un buio tale da non capire bene dove va direzionata, ma tiene incollato l'ascoltatore ammaliandolo con la sua furia. Notevole traguardo per i Dead Congregation che dimostrano di saper migliore la proposta di album in album. Insieme a tutti gli altri gruppi sopra citati e come gia disse un tempo Edoardo (Chief Editor di YDBCN) saranno loro a salvare il Death Metal.
