If we had to choose one music genre which gets monotonus as the years pass by, that genre is surely deathcore. Though, even this (this won't make sense to you, so hate me), deathcore si my favourite music genre. Groups like Thy Art is Murder, Carnifex and, sadly, the disbanded Signal the Firing Squad and so on, I have passed so many days full of free violence without a specifical purpose. But this year only a few releases made my yell "Holy shit!" - in a positive way, of course -, (Carnifex included) and the last release which now we're going to talk about.
My dear and angry "I Declare War", come back on the scene with they "We Are Violent people by Nature". Album's name is a warranty, and the first track (released as single) perfectly explain album's essence: lyrics that yell and scream violence and hate from every single instrument. To say, there are so many good points on this release and we can notice them since the first track but not only, because all the instrument and the lyrics are based on the pure genre's typical violence. But the best thing in the album, is, the big guitars' riffs variety. They can be both fast 'n' loud or condensed, focused, by without falling in the same repeitive breakdowns which plague the scene from so much time.
All the song are more or less different from each others, not repetitive and with different rythmics and sections.
The only thing that this album misses is the singer's vocal range, who keeps singing on the same growl base without propose something new and rilevant like the rest of the line up does.
In the end, "We are Violent people by Nature" it's a nice release for this year, almost like Carnifex's albums, so you might understand how much they worth.
So, I say goodbye leaving you the track whick I consider album's best, that has made me moshpit between the desk and closet: "The Bad Man". I hope you readers will like this album as I do. [Translated by Lorenzo Naturale]
Il deathcore è un tipo di musica sempre più tendente alla monotonia negli ultimi anni, ma nonostante questo, (odiatemi pure) il genere in questione è uno dei miei prediletti. Con gruppi come Thy Art is Murder, Carnifex ed i purtroppo oramai sciolti Signal the Firing Squad e tanti altri io ho passato e tutt'ora passo grandi giornate colme di violenza gratuita priva di movente. Quest'anno però poche sono state le uscite che mi hanno fatto esclamare un bel "Porca troia!" in senso positivo (tra cui i già citati Carnifex), ed ora tratteremo uno di questi album, il più recente.
I cari, prepotenti ed incazzati I Declare War tornano in scena con il loro "We are Violent People by Nature". Il titolo dice tutto e la prima traccia, (rilasciata come singolo) fa carpire il significato del titolo a pieno, con un testo che trasuda violenza e odio da ogni singolo verso con una base strumentale semplicemente distruttiva. A favore di questo lavoro devo dire che sono di più i punti positivi, perché come ho già detto, a partire dalla
prima traccia e non solo, troviamo testi e strumentazioni impuntati molto sulla semplice e pura violenza, tipica del genere anzi, quasi esagerata.
Ma il punto forte di questo album a mio parere è la grande varietà di riffing che i chitarristi sono riusciti a proporre, con parti scattanti, veloci che a volte ti colgono anche impreparato e parti invece molto più concentrate, condensate, senza mai sfociare però nella banalità dei ridondanti breakdown che tormentano la scena da ormai troppo tempo. Tutte le canzoni sono più o meno varie, non ripetitive, con schemi e ritmiche differenti che quindi rendono l'ascolto oltremodo piacevole.
L'unico punto a sfavore credo sia il range vocale del cantante che purtroppo si mantiene sempre sullo stesso schema di growl senza mai mutare più di tanto o proporre qualcosa di diverso e incalzante come invece fa tutto il resto della line-up. In conclusione "We are Violent People by Nature" è un'ottima uscita per quest'anno, per me quasi al pari dell'album dei miei cari Carnifex, quindi potrete ben capire.
Vi lascio quindi consigliandovi la traccia che reputo migliore di tutto il disco, quella che mi ha fatto "pogare" ripetutamente tra la scrivania e l'armadio, ecco a voi "The Bad Man", con la speranza che pure a voi lettori questo disco possa piacere come al sottoscritto.
