Mike Bongiorno presenta: Obituary - Inked In Blood

There are some Shakespearian issues in Metal and of these is: "How the fuck is it possible that Obituary didn't end up in some ill-famed bar in South Dakota drinking Jack Daniel's and listening to World Demise, instead of making new album and touring when they are as old as my father?
Today, in 2014, after 5 years since the last CD came out, we must talk about them without prejudices to those who have written a new metal genre and a new style of playing it. Only if you are part of Obituary you can play Death Metal with a Fender Stratocaster. Only if you're member of Obituary you can write lyrics that are so pointless and common that if I had been american I'd rather be Polish to do not understand what John Tardy is saying.
With ease and will I tried to listen to this "Inked in Blood" without having a nap in the middle of it or being so bored to do something else while looking for CD's merits.
Actually, there are some: harmonizations are more elaborated than usual, there's a use of polyrhythms, (now hear this!) sextuples, more that one time-change in a song, THERE ARE SOME SOLOS THAT ARE NOT ANNOYING AT ALL.
I really like that they are trying to create a product that sounds Old School but at the same times can be listened by more people. They don't have to prove nothing; they just need to make album and tours so Obituary can live; "That's life!" you might say. "Not so much", I say.
Honor and respect, they did it. Much betther than the embarassing Xcutioner and than the poor and weak Darkest Day. [Translated By Lorenzo Naturale]

Mica tanto, penso io.
Onore e rispetto, la prova è superata. Molto meglio dell'imbarazzante Xcutioner e del mediocre Darkest Day.
