Decapitated - Blood Mantra

Though we already know that these polish titans can't no longer improve their death metal, when we heard that new album was about to be released we all were excited; both because Vogg said the new album would have black metal and stoner atmospheres and because we're talking about Decapitated; also, their last album, "Carnival is Forever" was a good hit.

"Exiled in Flesh"'s opening seems to tell us "I am the best track"; fair black metal atmospheres, extremely catchy riff which will last in your head for at least one week, musical elements signed Decapitated (which are not normal, because when I listened to the singles I couldn't hear them). Fuck yes! Exactly what I wanted to hear.
"The Balsphemous Psalm To The Dummy God Creation", one of the singles, did not change my mind on what I heard: a short track, fast and full of sounds, and if you want to say "oh my God! This totally looks like Meshuggah!" ... do as you please, I like it anyway.
"Veins" has serrated times, it is extremely groovy and has come catchy riffs sometimes; the perfect mix to keep up the good work.

So we have finally arrived to 'DAT TRACK'. Yeah, you got it: that track you listened and yelled: "Oh my God, is this Slipknot??" This song has three parts: first one, in which is present a kind of nu-metal until the refrain; 2nd part, from the solo, where it seems a prog song; and, finally, the 3rd one, that sounds like Slayer. We already knew that this album had influences, but not so many!
Then it comes "Nest", which goes around a groovy riff that would eventually get boring, while another guitar opens a pitched riff that creates an atmosphere that is weak and ends with some indecisions. I didn't like it.
Then we have the couple "Instinct" and "Blindness" and, I don't wanna annoy but, for God sake it is obvious that they are composed from Lamb of God's riffs transferred in mid-tempos. Without these two tracks the CD could have been at least decent. But it's not over! This I'm going to tell made me roll on the floor laughing!
We got "Red Sun" which is as useful as an umbrella with big holes and "Moth Defect" that is the classical song that starts slow and then goes on mid-tempos.
From "Blood Mantra"'s ending we can understand that Decapitated have no longer ideas on how to compose album. It is pointless to start an album in such a good way and then let it rot on the end, while with a less boring, accurate and bright idea at the base they would have done something nice. Also, with an extremely limitated riffing that recalls NWOAHM, the static drum that does the same four tracks all the time and a way of singing that is only a few times Death Metal, this "Blood Mantra" can't take off to something greater.

Ebbene siamo arrivati a quel pezzo.
